General and Preventative Dentistry

Regular Checkups

We recommend you come into our office for a regular check-up every 6 months.  Regular visits allow us to check for signs of decay, gum disease, and other potential issues as we examine your teeth, gums and mouth.  If you have any questions about your overall oral health, we are happy to answer those for you.

Teeth Cleanings

Teeth cleanings are routinely performed and are necessary to prevent disease or damage to your teeth - especially if you have a history of dental infection.  Regular teeth cleaning will help to remove plaque and tartar buildup that can't be removed with regular brushing and flossing. If left unchecked, plaque and tartar buildup can cause tooth decay, cavities, erosion of gum tissue, gum disease, and other problems.  So don't skip your regular teeth cleanings - they are quick and painless, and definitely worth it.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Early detection is the most powerful tool in the fight against oral cancer.  That's why we make oral cancer screenings a standard part of every comprehensive dental exam.  This simple, non-invasive procedures is designed to identify the early sighs of oral cancer or precancerous conditions, when they are most treatable.

Dental Fillings

A dental filling is a common procedure used to restore a tooth that has been damaged by decay, fractures, or other forms of trauma.  The procedure consists of removing the decayed or damaged portion of the tooth. The goal is to remove all the compromised portion of the tooth while preserving as much healthy tooth structure as possible. We use only tooth-colored composite resin to match the nature shade of your teeth, making the restoration virtually invisible.

Mouth Guards

Mouth guards are used for a variety of reasons from preventing injuries to teeth, gums, tongue, & jaw during sports, to protect teeth from the damaging effects of grinding and clenching during sleep, or to help alleviate jaw pain and muscle tension associated with TMJ/TMD.  We custom-fit mouth guards specifically for an individual's mouth to fit the unique contours of your teeth and bite.

Tooth Extractions

A tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth.  At Downtown Dental we prioritize saving natural teeth whenever possible. But sometimes an extraction may be necessary when a tooth is severely damaged or diseased that it cannot be restored. Other reasons might include trauma or injury, teeth crowding or pre-orthodontic treatment.

The goal of preventative care is to maintain good oral health and prevent problems from developing.
